This past summer me and two of my closest friends wanted to show case what a summer in the most beautiful province in Canada looks like. We decided that a doc showcasing some of our favourite spots in beautiful British Columbia would not only do the trick but also give a glimpse into our sick lives. This project gave us an outlet to send it whenever we had a chance cause it was for the video. Hopefully the journey doesn’t end here and we can keep our lives exciting by keeping Coolas going.
SILENT FILM
This project is a short, silent documentary-style film that captures the daily rhythm and emotional atmosphere of the University of Waterloo Men’s Volleyball team room. Through a mix of static and dynamic cinematography, the film offers an intimate portrait of the space and its players as they move through their routines—eating lunch, taking study breaks, connecting with teammates, and getting ready for practice. Using wide shots from high angles and close-ups on textures, the film immerses viewers in the team’s physical environment and collective spirit. A key tradition captured in the project is the ritual of tapping the Warrior sign when entering and leaving the team room—an act that symbolizes respect, unity, and the shared identity of being part of the team. The film emphasizes this small yet meaningful gesture as a central element in the players' daily lives, reinforcing the team’s culture and values.
